Summer 2014:  eTutoring is available ONLY to pilot student-group notified they have been approved for access.

 Fall 2014:  eTutoring will be available to all TCNJ undergraduates.

The College of NJ is a partner in the Northeast eTutoring Consortium, which offers online professional tutoring support in the following areas:

  • Writing
  • Math (computation, algebra, pre-calc and calculus)
  • Statistics
  • Accounting
  • Research Methods and  Information Literacy

eTutoring Services Available:

Online Writing Lab service allows you to submit a draft of your paper to a tutor, ask for specific feedback, and receive your work back with a tutor’s comments generally within 24 to 48 hours, depending on the number of papers submitted at that time.  You may submit a maximum of THREE (3) drafts per paper.


Live Tutoring via eChat service allows you to meet with a tutor in one-on-one tutoring sessions for Math, Science, Accounting, and Info Literacy/Research Methods via a fully interactive, virtual online environment.


Offline Question service allows you to leave a specific question for an eTutor, who will respond within 48 hours.



The College expects students using eTutoring services to observe TCNJ’s Academic Integrity Policy.





Q:       How do I start eTutoring?

A:        Go to login page

            Login with your your PAWS username and PAWS password

            The first time you login to eTutoring, you must

  •  READ the eTutoring Terms and Conditions
  •  ACCEPT the Terms and Conditions by checking “I agree to all terms and conditions” box


             Then after you have accepted the Terms and Conditions, click on one of the eTutoring Resources on the welcome page and follow the steps to choose

  •      live echat for content
  •      submit an offline question
  •      submit a draft with questions for feedback


                Each subsequent time you login, you will go straight to the welcome page to select your service.


Q:       How do I use eChat for course content?

A:        Weekly Tutor Schedules are available on the lower right-hand bottom of the eTutoring consortium Welcome page after you login.  You’ll see colored tutor icons will indicate the tutors’ schedules and their subjects.  Click the icon of the tutor you wish to chat with. 


Q:       What if a tutor isn’t available for eChat?

A:        You can leave a message through Offline QuestionsYou will receive an answer within 48 hours.



Q:       Do I need to manually change my eTutoring username and password each time I change my PAWS username and password?

A:        No.  When you reset your PAWS username and password, your eTutoring login will automatically reset.


Q:       What do I do if I forget my password?  

A:        Just as you would if you forget your PAWS password, go to the TCNJ  password management page:


Q:       What do I do if I have trouble logging in to eTutoring?

Q:       Does eTutoring replace face-to-face tutoring?

A:        eTutoring supplements in-person tutoring services available in The Tutoring Center, 101 Roscoe West Mondays-Thursdays 9 am-7 pm and Fridays 9 am-5 pm.


Q:       How often can I use eTutoring?

A:        For Offline Question services in course content, you are permitted TWO submissions at a time waiting for a response.


           For Writing, you are permitted to have drafts of TWO papers submitted and waiting for a response at the same time. 

           You may submit THREE DRAFTS per PAPER.          

Q:       What happens if I use eChat or submit questions and papers more than allowed?

A:        Students exceeding maximum usage will have access to eTutoring deactivated.  If your account is deactivated  due to over-submission, you must request reactivation by speaking in person with the eTutoring Administrator in the Tutoring Center, 101Roscoe West:
